Wavebreak Island Rendezvous

Monday, December 29th, 2008

The decision to try the ever popular Wavebreak Island for our next Sea Ray Owners Club Rendezvous proved, with a few reservations, to be a great success.

By midday, with a pretty terrible weather forecast, we had a row of Sea Rays rafted up with more arriving.

Then the storm hit. For about twenty minutes it crashed its way over us, with rolling storm clouds, thunder and lightening, torrential rain and massive winds. Very exciting! It cleared as quickly as it came and we all enjoyed a pleasant afternoon.
By then we had about twenty boats rafted with a few more nearby.

The water was still a little cloudy from all the rain we have been having and  the wash from the traffic in the Main Channel made it a little uncomfortable at times for the smaller boats but we had plenty of room and were able to raft-up close to the beach.

As you can see we all enjoyed a variety of activities.

Sunday turned out to be just perfect: clear blue sky and a gentle breeze to soften the heat.
As we had hoped quite a few smaller day boats joined us for the fun.

How neat is this!

These revolutionary ‘Gunwale’ mounted teppanyaki style hot plates are easily mounted in a rod holder and have a quick-release for level adjustment to any angle.
They feature:
•    Electric and super fast heat-up
•    Accurate temperature control
•    Healthy and interactive Teppanyaki style cooking
•    Built in cleaning facilities
We think they look great, are very functional and offer a good alternative to the traditional Stainless BBQs we mount on many boats.
A free standing table version is also available.

Sea Ray’s 2008 Yacht Expo

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Sea Ray’s 2008 Yacht Expo was an outstanding success. Celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year Sea Ray used the event as an opportunity to invite the most important International Marine Journalists to visit. When it was all over a total of 57 boats were sold. Remarkable in the current US market especially considering they were all over 40ft!
I have reprinted an email from Rob Noyes, the Vice President of Marketing for Sea Ray.

“As of the close of business on Sunday afternoon we had sold 49 Sea Ray Sport Yachts and Yachts. While it is not a record, it exceeded our expectations. The only reason for this is the complete teamwork and cooperation from everyone. The planning was outstanding, the set up was one of the smoothest ever, the staff from the Sykes Creek factory bent over backwards to accommodate the event and all our employees were ready to pitch in no matter what was requested. This all got us ready for the International press event on Thursday. The press event came off without a hitch and we will get record levels of coverage from the magazines that attended. In a down economy, this is outstanding! We had a few domestic press attendees as well and they too were excited and overwhelmed with what they saw and experienced.
The customers and dealers came on Friday and once again were blown away with the event. There is no other manufacturer that could pull this off to the level that we do. We sold boats in the worst economy our generation has ever seen. To put this in perspective, we sold more sport yachts and yachts in 36 hours than we did last year at all of the January boat shows! I had more customers thank me this year than ever before because they all understand what it takes to deliver that kind of experience, especially in a down economy.”

One of the new models unveiled at the Yacht Expo was the Sea Ray 540 Sundancer. For an exclusive preview open the file on this link
