The 2009 QMC All Tackle All Species Tournament

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

QMC was the major sponsor for the Surfers Paradise Game & Sport Fishing Club’s 2009 QMC All Tackle All Species Tournament held over the weekend of the 7th  and 8th  of March.
With Andrew the only one on board with any experience the QMC team did not do so well. Nonetheless, fishing out of the Boston Whaler 305 Conquest they all had a lot of fun.
After a massive struggle and a lot of assistance Neil landed a small Tuna which Andrew immediately threw back. Jamie Nani hooked a decent Wahoo that got away, but managed to land a Tuna which also went back, then Bryce landed a Dolphin Fish and another Tuna before they all retired to quieter waters to recover.
The rest of the Tournament was a great success as you can read in the Club Newsletter below.
Presentations were held at the tournament base, Southport Yacht Club, on Sunday evening.

QMC All Tackle All Species Tournament

Our annual Tournament was successfully staged on the weekend of the 7th and 8th March. The new venue of the Southport Yacht Club proved to be very popular with anglers, offering a great location, quality food, good marina in a raft-up style and friendly staff.
The 28 boats and 95 anglers were greeted by unusually good weather. With the Gold Coast experiencing a hot Black Marlin bite over the previous couple of weeks, expectations were high. However, the Blacks disappeared over the weekend, although the Blues had a bit of a chew, with several lost. Over the two fishing days, the fleet tagged 9 Blue Marlin (above left), 2 Black Marlin, 1 Shortbill Spearfish, 17 Mahi Mahi, 3 Wahoo, 8 Yellowfin Tuna (right), 31 Mackerel Tuna, 61 Striped Tuna and 1 Spotted Mackerel.
A big thank you is extended to all our sponsors, including the major sponsors for the Tournament: Queensland Marine Centre, Reelax and Deep Vee, and to the Southport Yacht Club. With the support of all sponsors, anglers and the Yacht Club, the Tournament raised a total of $2,500 for our favourite charity, Camp Quality, as well as ensuring our financial stability for the next year.

Sea Ray + Dealer = Investment Security

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

(From Sea Ray Head Office)

Customers are more focused than at any time in history on ensuring that the investment they make with a new boat is solid; that they’re not throwing their hard-earned dollars into a relationship they can’t trust. A new boat is an investment — an investment in their family, their leisure, their peace-of-mind.Today, more than ever before, customers are not just buying a boat; they’re buying a boat company! And only Sea Ray can provide the security and owner confidence that they expect and deserve:

    Sea Ray is celebrating its 50th year in business in 2009.

    Sea Ray is the number one worldwide choice for sterndrive and inboard pleasure boats. More owners choose Sea Ray than any other single brand.

    The average Sea Ray dealer’s tenure is 23 years in business (QMC has been here for 13 years). We’ll be there when you need us.

    Our dealer sales and service teams are the most tenured in the business. They stay with Sea Ray because of the quality of the product and their personal commitment to Sea Ray owner satisfaction.

    Sea Ray has invested more than $70 million in the last three years in product design, quality and manufacturing improvements. We’re not operating out of a warehouse, and our employees are dedicated to long-term customer satisfaction.

   Sea Ray’s product development facility is the largest and most sophisticated in the world. In the last two years we have introduced more new models than most manufacturers have in their entire model line-up.

  Sea Ray and our dealers live the boating lifestyle. Instead of selling a piece of fiberglass and throwing the customer the keys, we engage each owner and help them get maximum enjoyment out of their investment — getaways, rendezvous, dock parties, off-season events — all designed to ensure that the owners’ experience lives up to their boating dream.

    Sea Ray’s customer retention is the highest in the industry, and among the highest of any company in any industry. The combination of customer-driven innovation, world-class customer service and a commitment to owner enjoyment keep more Sea Ray owners “in the family” year end and year out.

    We don’t sell hunting equipment, ATV’s, decoys or “Sam the Talking Fish”. And we don’t treat our owners like an inconvenience when they have a service need. We sell the best boats in the world, and we live by and for the Sea Ray owner.

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

QMC has recently expanded our Service and Parts area. We now have extended Work Bays, storage, parking and Chandlery.
By expanding into a previously leased section of the Bailey Crescent building we have doubled our Service working area.
The Chandlery has moved from within the Showroom to the front entrance of the new Service Department and we now have complete use of the large open area at the rear of the building.
Michael and his staff are now even better equipped to handle the Service requirements of our growing numbers of happy Sea Ray owners.

If you are a Sea Ray owner mention this article and you will receive a 10% discount on a Service booked with Michael during the month of Febuary.

How neat is this!

These revolutionary ‘Gunwale’ mounted teppanyaki style hot plates are easily mounted in a rod holder and have a quick-release for level adjustment to any angle.
They feature:
•    Electric and super fast heat-up
•    Accurate temperature control
•    Healthy and interactive Teppanyaki style cooking
•    Built in cleaning facilities
We think they look great, are very functional and offer a good alternative to the traditional Stainless BBQs we mount on many boats.
A free standing table version is also available.

Sea Ray’s 2008 Yacht Expo

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Sea Ray’s 2008 Yacht Expo was an outstanding success. Celebrating their 50th Anniversary this year Sea Ray used the event as an opportunity to invite the most important International Marine Journalists to visit. When it was all over a total of 57 boats were sold. Remarkable in the current US market especially considering they were all over 40ft!
I have reprinted an email from Rob Noyes, the Vice President of Marketing for Sea Ray.

“As of the close of business on Sunday afternoon we had sold 49 Sea Ray Sport Yachts and Yachts. While it is not a record, it exceeded our expectations. The only reason for this is the complete teamwork and cooperation from everyone. The planning was outstanding, the set up was one of the smoothest ever, the staff from the Sykes Creek factory bent over backwards to accommodate the event and all our employees were ready to pitch in no matter what was requested. This all got us ready for the International press event on Thursday. The press event came off without a hitch and we will get record levels of coverage from the magazines that attended. In a down economy, this is outstanding! We had a few domestic press attendees as well and they too were excited and overwhelmed with what they saw and experienced.
The customers and dealers came on Friday and once again were blown away with the event. There is no other manufacturer that could pull this off to the level that we do. We sold boats in the worst economy our generation has ever seen. To put this in perspective, we sold more sport yachts and yachts in 36 hours than we did last year at all of the January boat shows! I had more customers thank me this year than ever before because they all understand what it takes to deliver that kind of experience, especially in a down economy.”

One of the new models unveiled at the Yacht Expo was the Sea Ray 540 Sundancer. For an exclusive preview open the file on this link
